Gigi loves it when we spend the night tied to the bank below the Cleeve Lock. Step off the boat and her four furry paws are on her own expansive green grassy field. She now expects us to stop at Cleeve every time we cruise by. For Gigi there’s no reason for us to go any further. Cleeve is as good as it gets in the doggy world.
Not that Gigi cares, but Cleeve Lock has played a place in music history. The house behind the weir is where Pete Townsend wrote the much of the album Quadrophenia. Indeed, Townsend still owns the island on the downstream side of the weir. We figure that when we stay at Gigi’s favorite spot below the Cleeve Lock, Mr. Townsend is our nearest neighbor. Sure hope Pete doesn’t mind a canine running free.
