Located at the junction of the River Saône and the Canal de Bourgogne and not far from several other waterways, St.-Jean-de-Losne has historically been a center of barge business. Today the small town with around 1,200 residents continues as a significant business center for commercial barges. It also has one of the largest pleasure boat marinas in Europe. All things for watercraft, chandlers, boatyards, and fuel, can be found in St. Jean.

(Wanderlust reached St.-Jean-de-Losne on the 11th of June 2015. St.-J-d-L is 35 kilometers and two locks from Verdun-sur-le-Doubs.)
